Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country just an hour northwest of Austin, Inks Lake is a scenic 831-acre constant-level reservoir. Famous for its vibrant pink granite rock outcrops, striking sunsets, and year-round water recreation, it is an ideal destination for camping, hiking, and water sports.
Inks Lake is not a very big lake at all, tiny compared to most lakes that produce giant bass, but can be one of the best lakes in central Texas. Especially in the springtime around the spawn and early summer where the topwater and frog bite really turn on. I've been fishing this lake for over 50 years since I was a kid and have seen a lot of big fish come out of it during that time. It's not a very big lake at all as stated and you can pretty much fish it however you'd like, whether flipping docks, flipping hard woods, working over rock piles and ledges and throwing frogs and flukes around any cover. A shaky head thrown around rock piles can produce some nice Guadalupe bass as well. There are big catfish and even some striper in the lake also. If you are looking for a place to fish from the bank, there are lots of places around the shore in the State Park that produce.
